I had to restart my comp fiew times for this what im abaut to show you..

One of my latest foundouts(nowhere on net to be found,ofc...)

If you got old slowed down windows, to speed up and stability folow steps;

1; save you sound shemes(if you want)

2; goto control panel ckick system then select..



3: click on "adjust for best appearance"
4; click apply ok restart pc
5; (after restart you will see lots of chandges)go back to same window"performance options" and set up your old settings.
6; restore you saved sound shemes(if you want)
7; and goto display properties setup your settings there, screensaver, ect.

8, your all done, and you got back that speed


Update:
With this way i fix fiew computers, wors one was my dads.
He had file explorer crashes, windows crashes, lol, while renaming copying files, ect..
So when computer need speed and stability i do that my way of fixing windows..

Yeah, classic way of getting ride of effects and saving RAM and CPU.. well actually CPU

also, if you select "adjust for best appearance", and it still checks everything, and your computer is still slow (due to old graphics card eating RAM) just take some stuff out (stuff you feel it's useless) if still slow, just take everything off.

is not just clasic cpu perfornamce, tuneup/down like set and forget.

PPl got serius stabilty problems in time like half yeear or 1 yearis those "refreshing" makes like new xp install, fast and stable pc.
Idunno why, maybe is just reste some files inside pc.
But this is 100% workin on all windows xp and beyond
